Ning Lu - A British Chinese Actor/Dancer/Model

It's Ning here.

Me:

I was born in China and moved to the UK in 2006. Couldn't speak a word of English when I first arrived, but, here I am!

My Dance:

According to my mum, I loved waving my tiny arms to the sound of music before I could even speak, and that’s the beginning of my 9 years of Chinese folk dance classes until I had to leave for Britain. And after I arrived here, I discovered even more dance styles such as Contemporary, Jazz and Chinese Classic Dance.

By the sound of all this you’d think I’m heading to a dance collage and then dance company, but nope! I picked up a 4-year Biochemical Engineering course in UCL. And for that, I’d say ‘Chinese parents eh?’ I had the period where you are a bit lost in life and wondering what you are doing with your life as you are not who you imagined to be when you were 8 years old, just before my graduation. But I decided to pursue my dream in performing arts after my graduation. I never really left dancing even when I was studying and started teaching Chinese Classic Dance part-time at UKCPA after I graduated. We have performances at various shows and events across the UK.

My Acting:

I started as a SA since Apr 2018, and since then have worked in dozens of productions including films, TV and commercials, including still shots. I was very lucky to have a few featured roles in feature films such as: Last Christmas and Military Wives, and TV Four Weddings and a Funeral. While on set, I met friends who offered me speaking roles in short films. I have learnt a lot in the past year and I would love to pursue further in the sector.
